How Text Opt-In Works

DailyHOA text notifications — the opt-in process, step by step

DailyHOA is a homeowner association (HOA) management platform. Communities use it to send their own residents account notifications by text message — dues reminders, past-due notices, meeting notices, and maintenance or community updates. These are account notifications about a resident's home and HOA, not advertising. Messages are sent from our number, +1 980-372-1494.

This page describes exactly how a resident opts in, so anyone can verify the process. No account or sign-in is needed to read it. DailyHOA does not send a text message to any number that has no recorded opt-in.

Way 1: Opt in when you claim your account

  1. Your HOA sets up your community. When a homeowner association starts using DailyHOA, it provides its community roster — resident names, units, and contact details, including mobile numbers, from its own community records.
  2. Your board issues you a one-time invite code. A board member generates a single-use claim code for your household and gives it to you. The code expires after 30 days, works only once, and only a scrambled (hashed) copy of it is ever stored.
  3. You open the claim page. Go to dailyhoa-web-app.netlify.app/claim and enter your code. The system checks the code and shows you the name, unit, and community it has on file for that code, so you can confirm it is really you before continuing.
  4. You set your password and confirm your mobile number. You choose a password for your account and confirm the mobile number your HOA has on file (or enter the best mobile number for community notices).
  5. You decide about text messages. On the same screen there is a checkbox for text notifications. It starts unchecked — nothing is agreed to unless you check it yourself. The checkbox carries this exact wording:
Text me community notices at this number. I agree to receive text notifications from my homeowner association through DailyHOA — dues reminders, past-due and meeting notices, and maintenance updates. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to end, HELP for help. You don't have to agree to use DailyHOA — your notices will come by email instead.
  1. Your choice is recorded at that moment. If you check the box and activate your account, your opt-in is written to DailyHOA's consent registry in the same step — the number, the date and time, and the exact wording you agreed to. If you leave the box unchecked, no consent is recorded and you receive your notices by email instead. Claiming your account works the same either way; text messages are never a condition of using DailyHOA.

Way 2: Opt in by text message

If your mobile number is already in your community's records, you can text START to +1 980-372-1494. We reply with a message confirming that you are opted in, and we record the opt-in in the consent registry.

Either way, the opt-in exists in the registry before any notification is sent, and our sending system checks the registry before every send — a number with no recorded opt-in is not texted.

What you will receive

  • Dues reminders
  • Past-due and balance notices
  • Meeting notices
  • Maintenance and community updates

Message frequency varies — it depends on your community's activity and your account. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.

Stopping and getting help

Reply STOP to any message at any time to opt out. We will send one confirmation message, and after that you will receive no further text messages unless you opt in again. Text START to opt back in. Reply HELP for help, or email us at admin@dailyhoa.com. You can also ask your homeowner association's board to update your notification record.
